How to set the bi-weekly pay period on the Seiko Z120

When programming the bi-weekly (fortnightly) pay period, the end day value must represent the number of days remaining in the current pay period.  If your pay period is ending today, the end day value will be 0 (no days remaining).


In this example, today is Tuesday, 9 January 2018 and we will be programming the pay period to end on a Sunday, 14 January 2018.

To obtain the end day value, count as follows: Today/Tuesday (0), Wednesday (1), Thursday (2), Friday (3), Saturday (4) and Sunday (5).  The end day value will be 5.


If you need to set or alter the pay period to bi-weekly (fortnightly) on your Seiko Z120 time clock, follow the procedure below.


If you are already in program mode and are continuing from a previous function option, you can jump ahead to step 5.

  1. With the power applied to the Seiko Z120, unlock and remove the cover.

  2. Seiko Z120 Time Clock (unlock and remove cover)

  3. Press the SETTING button once.  This will enter program mode.

  4. Seiko Z120 Time Clock (press SETTING button)

  5. Once in program mode, the display will show " ".

  6. Seiko Z120 Time Clock (change bi-weekly pay period - step 3)

  7. Press and hold the FUNCTION button for 1-2 seconds.  This will enter the first function option.

  8. Seiko Z120 Time Clock (change bi-weekly pay period - step 4)

    If the display shows "9999" when entering function program mode, you are required to enter the four digit password to proceed.

  9. Press the FUNCTION button as required to position the "" mark under the PAY PERIOD option.

  11. Initially, the pay period type value will be flashing.  If necessary, press the or buttons to alter the pay period type value to read 3 for bi-weekly.

    Press the SET button to proceed to the end day.


  12. The end day value will now be flashing.  If necessary, press the or buttons to alter the end day to read 5 to represent that there are 5 days remaining in the current pay period.

    Press the SET button to complete the procedure.


  13. Seiko Z120 Time Clock (change bi-weekly pay period - step 7a)

  14. If you don't need to alter any further settings, press the SETTING button once.  This will exit program mode.

  15. If you don't press the SETTING button to complete programming, the Z120 will remain in program mode and will not accept time cards.

  16. Replace and lock the cover.
